Our Bush Vine Tempranillo is made with fruit from the Frankland River Region of Western Australia, which produces wine with great richness of flavour. A beautiful bouquet of berry spice, toffee and savoury olive notes through to a medium bodied palate which finishes with pepper and caperberry. Aged in French oak for twelve months. Super limited release.
Bush vines are particularly unique as the vines are completely free standing and grown more like a bush, without the aid of a trellising system that is more commonly used in vineyards these days. The canopy allows dappled 360-degree sunlight, which promotes slow evening ripening of the grape. This type of vine promotes good airflow, the spurs are arranged on short arms in an approximate circle at the top of a short trunk, typically 30 to 50cm off the ground. Bush vines tend to have smaller yields and berries that have thicker skins and more concentrated flavours and colours. This style of vine has been used since Roman times and in Old World regions, where it is widespread.
